23 July: Added SPORT as a category to the images, but it will take at least a week to "clean up" People by removing the Sport shots, so for the time being they are in both. The Sport link leads to a page giving more information on the games and links to the images. Interesting tidbit: My site has the same IP address as ICHEIC.

Long story short: Four years ago I heard that the World Cup was going to be held at home (Germany), decided that I was going, and knew I was going to want someplace to put all of the pictures I came back with. In order to afford the trip, I needed to leave the New York taxes behind me and eventually decided upon the Nashua, New Hampshire area. At the time, I thought that the housing market would have finally become reasonable around the time I got back from the Cup. My guess only missed by a few months (and I blame ARMs for propping the market up) so I think I did pretty well.
After I got settled into my new apartment, I began work on creating the site, always looking ahead to that (unthinkable) time in the future when I'd have 2,000+ pictures posted. Now that I'm over 4,000, the categories simply aren't enough to keep it manageable and I'm working on a new design that will work through 20,000+ images. First and foremost (and easiest) of the changes is going to be the creation of a Sport category with its own menu listing the teams and date of the match, which will almost immediately bring People back down to a reasonable size. Signs That Don't Work, and maybe a few of the other series, are going to have their own links as well, to get them unburied from the current categories.
Interrupting my site work will be the fact that I've bought a house that will finish being built "sometime" in the next 4-6 weeks. Everytime I think I'm done, I get a phone call over something that needs to be taken care of/decided upon within the next 4 hours. Strangely enough, my European friends aren't particularly interested in dealing with US Customs and Passcontrol simply to help me move. The closest to a "yes" I've gotten is Frieda and Tanya volunteering to come help (read: bartend while we carry boxes) ... if I buy their tickets. I may be mixing up his messages, but I think the best excuse is when Chris told me he can't make it because he has to babysit his little sister

Langer Geschichte machte kurz: Vor vier Jahren hörte ich daß meine Heimat (Deutschland) der Gastgeber für WM sein würde, entschied daß ich ging, und wußte daß ich irgendwo alle Bilder stellen wollen würde die ich zurückkam. Um mir die Reise zu leisten, mußte ich die New York Steuern hinter mir lassen und entschied schließlich nach dem Nashua, New Hampshire Bereich. Z.Z. dachte ich daß der Gehäusemarktpreis schließlich vernünftig geworden sein würde, um die Zeit ich zurück von der WM zurückkam. Meine Vermutung vermißte nur bis zum einigen Monaten (und ARMs sind eine gefährliche Art Hypothek, die jetzt seine Opfer behauptet, und ich tadele sie für den Gehäusemarktpreis stützen), also denke ich daß ich gut tat.
Nachdem ich in meine neue Wohnung umzog, fing ich Arbeit über das Herstellen der Website an und immer voran zu dem (undenkbare) Zeit zukünftig wenn ich 2.000+ Bilder bekanntgeben lassen würde. Nun da ich über 4.000 hab, sind die Kategorien einfach nicht genug, zum es handlich zu halten und ich arbeite auf einem neuen Design, das durch 20.000+ Bilder arbeiten wird. Zuerst (und am einfachsten) von den Änderungen wird die Kreation einer Sportkategorie mit seinem eigenen Menü, welches die Mannschaften und das Datum des Spiels verzeichnet, das fast sofort Leute zurück unten zu einer angemessenen Größe holt. Unterbrechung meine Websitearbeit ist die Tatsache, daß ich ein Haus gekauft habe, das in den folgenden 6-8 Wochen „einmal“ errichtet werden. Jedesmal wenn ich denke daß alle beendet wird, bekomm ich einen Telefonanruf über etwas innerhalb der nächsten 4 Stunden ich um es kümmert werden muß/entschieden worden. Seltsamerweise sind meine europäischen Freunde nicht im Umgang mit US Zoll- und Passkontroll interessiert, nur zu mir umziehen helfen. Das nähste zu "ja" die ich bekam war von Frieda und Tanya, die sich freiwillig meldeten, zu Hilfe kommen (Lesen wie: sie arbeiten als Bardamen während wir Kästen tragen) ... wenn ich ihre Flugscheine kaufe. Ich kann seine Anmerkungen verwechseln, aber ich denke die beste Entschuldigung ist wenn Chris mir erklärte daß er nicht kommen und helfen kann, weil er seine kleine Schwester beschützen muß
Welcome to my site, happy browsing. I've opted for a rewrite as quite a bit has changed since I first started this. Some things haven't though, so thanks to Sharya for both layout inspiration and for giving me the idea for verts. I've opted for a "minimalist" approach to the site design, as I'd rather not have an "ooo neat" layout interfere with the whole point of the site ... the images. I've gotten a couple complaints (usually from cr4k ^^) about the colour scheme, but that's part of the same concept. When you're actually looking at one of the pictures, the text and nav tend to fade together with the background in your peripherals, even when I've got something to say about the image, so no, they won't be changing.
In the nav is a link to Music. None of this is composed or performed by me, but all was readily available from net downloads (not P2P) at the time I've obtained them. On occasion I've posted someone else's image here as well. In all cases, credit to the original artist is given and, if you choose to copy and use any of it, I can only hope you remember to do the same. It will save you the hours of web searching I had to do to track down where I originally found it. By that same token, you may use my images, providing you host them yourself (don't steal my bandwidth) and don't crop out my watermarks (don't steal my work). I do have unmarked originals stashed away for everything, so at some point I'll get around to making them (the ones for which I don't need a release) available for sale as digital images or prints for those that want them. Not high on my to do list, but sometime ...

What will not be here:
- Blog: Most of what I've witnessed and done is either not worth noting, or things I'd rather not remember. I've never bothered to keep a diary, so don't expect this to turn into one. Comments here will be related to expected and processed site updates, and any delays that arise.
- Chat Room: I can't imagine anyone having enough to say about this site, or its contents, to warrant one.
- Forums/Web posts: I talk to myself enough as it is without documenting it. If you have a comment about an image or photo, e-mail me. At some point in the future, I may alter the image pages' coding to include viewers' comments, suggested captions, etc., but the bulk of my time in the foreseeable future will be in getting several years worth of work set for viewing.
- Unattributed Work: If it's not mine, and I can't find out whose it is, you won't see or hear it. All my work is copyright to me and it's rather hypocritical for me to pursue that while showing product without due credit to the original artist.
